Glen Baxby is a pilot. He has travelled the world but until recently, had barely been across the street on his bike. That all
changed when his friend Scott was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. Now Glen’s cycling across Canada to raise awareness and $500,000 in funds for the cure. Follow Glen on his journey over 7,300 km as he conquers mountains and metropolises, while fighting for hope and the future. Be a part of Coast2Coast2Cure and help Glen’s determination be a vehicle for change. Change Can Happen ! Glen Speaks !
And check out the fun magic trick in the background!
How did they do that ? Click the link below to find out ! Behind the Scenes Glen's story ...On October 22nd 2008, Air Canada Flight 869, a London to Toronto Boeing 777 touched down at 11:21am. Piloting that flight was Scott Lyon. The aircraft was taxied to the gate and the parking brake set. That ended another uneventful flight, and that was the last time anything in Scott Lyon's life was uneventful. Feeling more than just the ordinary jet lag, Scott made his way to his local hospital. The Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario, it would be Scott's new home for the next 2 weeks, before being transfered to Princess Margaret Hospital in downtown Toronto. The Diagnosis was soon made, and it hit like a ton of bricks, Cancer, a very rare type of Lymphoma. Scott has been my close friend and colleague for many years. I felt powerless to help him and his family. He has young kids just as I have. I thought a lot about how I could support Scott and it came to me that I could honor Scott’s courageous journey by making one of my own. I can’t travel Scott’s path with him, but perhaps I can make a difference that could prevent others from having to go through what he is so bravely facing. I intend to raise funds for cancer research by cycling from Victoria B.C. to St. John's Nfld. in sixty days or less. Our employer, Air Canada, has demonstrated its support and compassion by providing me with time off to complete the ride. Thank you for your support. Blog Archive
