coast2coast2cure@yahoo.ca What is this all about ?
Glen Baxby is a pilot. He has travelled the world but until recently, had barely been across the street on his bike. That all
changed when his friend Scott was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer last year. Now Glen’s cycling across Canada to raise awareness and $500,000 in funds for the cure. Follow Glen on his journey over 7,300 km as he conquers mountains and metropolises, while fighting for hope and the future. Be a part of Coast2Coast2Cure and help Glen’s determination be a vehicle for change. Change Can Happen ! Glen Speaks !
And check out the fun magic trick in the background!
How did they do that ? Click the link below to find out ! Behind the Scenes Glen's story ...On October 22nd 2008, Air Canada Flight 869, a London to Toronto Boeing 777 touched down at 11:21am. Piloting that flight was Scott Lyon. The aircraft was taxied to the gate and the parking brake set. That ended another uneventful flight, and that was the last time anything in Scott Lyon's life was uneventful. Feeling more than just the ordinary jet lag, Scott made his way to his local hospital. The Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario, it would be Scott's new home for the next 2 weeks, before being transfered to Princess Margaret Hospital in downtown Toronto. The Diagnosis was soon made, and it hit like a ton of bricks, Cancer, a very rare type of Lymphoma. Scott has been my close friend and colleague for many years. I felt powerless to help him and his family. He has young kids just as I have. I thought a lot about how I could support Scott and it came to me that I could honor Scott’s courageous journey by making one of my own. I can’t travel Scott’s path with him, but perhaps I can make a difference that could prevent others from having to go through what he is so bravely facing. I intend to raise funds for cancer research by cycling from Victoria B.C. to St. John's Nfld. in sixty days or less. Our employer, Air Canada, has demonstrated its support and compassion by providing me with time off to complete the ride. Thank you for your support. Blog Archive

Dear Glenn, We will never forget that emotional day in Scott's hospital room at PMH when you announced your goal to bike across Canada to raise funds for cancer research at PMH in Scott's honour. We were overwhelmed. Now that trip is almost over and we are sure you will never forget your experiences along the way, the generosity and caring of all the people you met. We just want you to know again how proud we are of your achievement. We have followed your journey every day and we will be thinking about you as you climb that final big hill. Enjoy your glory. You deserve it. Don and Dorothy Lyon

You are truly a Hero in many people's hearts and minds. What an amazing chapter in your life,I guess when tomorrow comes, one thing will stand out most about this trip and that is the only thing that stands between man and his goals is himself.
Congratulations my good man, the respect and admiration is well earned.
Doris the kids and I send love
Great job Glenn!
It was a great pleasure/honour riding with you Friday and Saturday. You're an inspiration to all us slackers.
The long days in the saddle are almost over but the legacy of the ride will continue on in Scott's name! Bravo to you!
Kudos to Jo and the girls for all their sacrifices. Jack is still talking about the girls and when are we going to see all of you again. I hope soon.
We need plan a ride for next year... with Scott of course. Maybe something a little shorter and lots of wobbly pops at the end. That's for another day.
Enjoy the boat ride to NF and get lots of rest... one day of riding to go!
Kevin
