Well, the 61 day pairing ended July 14th at the top of Signal hill at 1730 hrs. I'm home now, relaxing a little and getting back into the routine called life. I would like to let all those who have helped us along this journey know just how thankful I, and the coast2coast2cure team is for your support.

Whether your support came from a donation, sponsorship, or you helped with accommodations or any number of logistical tasks, a very heart felt Thank You! We could not have done it without you. At this time we have raised over $64,000. for Cancer research, and the web site will remain available for the next 4 to 6 weeks for donations and the occasional update.

I have been asked numerous times, what's next? Well, I will continue to fund raise for cancer research, but in just what capacity, I just don't know yet, but it will continue. As I sit and type this, the kids upstairs, still sleeping (8am, kids these days!). I think I'll go out to the garage and take the bike out of it's box, put it together and take it for a ride on the weekend. My neighbor said to me yesterday, I have now ruined casual bike riding for myself, and he's right, a short ride is now 80km long.

I would like to thank the Air Canada Pilot group, I have felt your support with every turn of the pedal. Air Canada and The Air Canada Pilots Association, have been my biggest corporate sponsors, this endeavor would never have gotten off the ground had it not been for your support.

Glen's Final Day and Tentative Schedule

After many long days and steep hills (and strong winds , rain , flat tires, broken iPods, lost GPS, yada yada yada) Glen will be arriving in St.John's, NL on July 14th (tomorrow!).

If you are in the St. John's area you can see Glen do his final climb up the slopes of Signal Hill. The exact time is dependant on weather and the ferry, but we are expecting Glen arriving sometime between 4:30 and 6:00pm. Hopefully on the earlier side, but he is riding his bike across the Avalon penninsula after all !

Afterwards it's a big celebration on George St at Rob Roy's with lots of great music and food after 7:30ish.

Go cheer him on as he climbs the last hill !

Trois Rivieres to Quebec City

We have now had 8 flat tires since May 15, 7 on the bike, 1 on the RV!

A steel wet bridge, with high winds is not a place for cyclists.

I can't even begin to tell you just how bad the winds were today...but this picture comes close.

The keys have now been passed to Normand Haas, Thanks Carrol, for keeping me safe these past few days. Normand will be joined by his son Lukas, welcome aboard.

A day of rest tomorrow, and it will be well spent relaxing.

Repentigny to Trois Rivieres

Leaving Repentigny this morning I was missing my new friends from yesterday.

As the moring turned to afternoon the sun came out, and the jacket was taken off.

With 25 K left into Trois Rivieres, I was happy to see others out battling the headwinds.

This was not the riding order I had in mind, but I was thankful for the company.

My road companions were kind enough to let me draft them into Trois Rivieres.

Quebec/Ont. boarder to Repentigny

It was a rainy day in Montreal but it didn't dampen our spirits! From left to right:
Louis Menard, Glen Baxby, Yvan Robichaud (Air Canada Pilot), Serge Trembly (Air Canada Pilot),
Marc-Andre Francoeur, and Paul Francoeur (Air Canada Pilot), joined me on the 110 kilometer ride through the city of Montreal.

Yvan guided us through the maze of bike paths and back roads, taking us through one of the most scenic rides so far. What a beautiful city!

Today's ride was dedicated to Carole Miron, Paul's wife and Marc-Andre's mother. Carole is fighting the good fight against cancer. Today was for you Carole!!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you!

We were hosted by the Talbot family for lunch, joining us in the photo is Francis Talbot.

It could have been my imagination but the rain drops seemed to be getting bigger in the afternoon.

I would like to dedicate today's ride to a young lady from Atlanta (Merrill King) who is in her own battle with cancer. My thoughts and prays are with you today and every day. I'll be riding for you today
Merrill, today is dedicated to you, and to hope, may you find the strength it takes to face your battle. We are with you in spirit, if not in person.

Here is Merrill's story: In April of 2004, Merrill King was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. She underwent chemotherapy and received a Bone Marrow Transplant at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta with her Dad serving as donor. For the next four years she remained active in athletics, school activities and living a typical teenage life. She suffered a relapse in June, 2008 with tumors in her chest. Radiation was the course of treatment. Again, life returned to a normal pace. She relapsed again this summer with more tumors and is scheduled for another transplant mid-summer. Throughout it all, Merrill has maintained her zest for life and sense of humor. She has inspired her friends, family and community with her bright spirit. Now she has a new friend in coast2coast2cure as they promote awareness for the cause of so many.

Yesterday I met such a couple, Dan and Jane Davies, you opened up your house and home to us and made us feel more than welcome, you made us feel like family. Thank you once again for the countless thoughtful considerations, like arranging the interview with Cathy Bond of The Millbrook Times and the arranging to meet with both the MP and the MPP.

Dan and Jane you are the best, we'll be back for a round of golf in the fall.

This was by far the toughest day outside BC that I have had....where are my ice packs! We also saw a little black bear cub at the side of the road, didn't stick around to take his picture, there was no telling just how close momma bear was.

Winnipeg to Falcon Lake

Thanks to the Winnipeg Delta for a very nice stay.

The Winnipeg pilots came out in full force to wish Warren Gobert and myself a safe ride to Falcon Lake. The boys even went back to the local airport climbed into a little airplane and took some aerial photographs of the ride.... Those picture will be made available to us shortly... Stby. The Geography of Manitoba addresses the easternmost of the three prairie Canadian provinces, located in the longitudinal center of Canada.
After 4 hours and 15 mins and just as we arrived in Falcon Lake Paul was pull over by the local police, not for an infraction but to pull a big truck tire out of his way.

It was a tough day on the road today, 30km/winds strait out of the north combined with 3 degrees made for a very cold start. The wind persisted all the way to Winnipeg, where we were met by Winnipeg LEC Chair Rob Weiser and Warren Gobert (both Air Canada Pilots) thanks guys!!! Warren will also be riding with me tomorrow for a portion of the day to Falcon Lake....just on the Manitoba side of the border with Ontario....

One of the most amazing things about this journey has been meeting the interesting people along the way, and today was no exception. We had traveled 60 kms out of Brandon, and it was time for a break, and there was a long lonely driveway that was an inviting spot out of the way of the traffic. I had my protein shake and we were getting ready to go, when a truck pulled in behind us and ask if we needed assistance, no, we're alright was the reply and we then went on to explain to the lady just what we were doing in her driveway. That's when we were introduced to Verna Elliott Hutlet. Verna works as a Dairy
Recording Technician, and was returning home after a day's work that started at 3am. Verna mentioned that her family has been touched by cancer and had many encouraging words for us, which always keeps me going. As it turns out, Verna is also an artist and was pleased to give us one of her paintings.
Thank you Verna!!! When I get home Verna, I will have this painting framed and I will display it proudly in my home.

It was a busy day on the road today.

Just as we entered the Brandon city limits we met a lovely lady who had pulled over after seeing the sign on the back of the RV. She was so impressed with our efforts that she offered us a piece of her home made carrot cake that she was taking to her co-workers. If you could please send us your name we would love to give you credit for such a good deed.

We arrived in Brandon this afternoon, and will be taking a well deserved day off tomorrow.

We were welcomed into Swift Current by Officer Gary Pepin and his wife Brenda and Daughter Amy. One call from Gary's brother Tim Pepin (Air Canada Pilot) brought out the heat.

Once again we have been blessed with fantastic weather, sunshine and light winds accompanied us all the way to Golden. I was pleasantly surprised just how much the route today was down hill, I love the down hill part of biking in BC.

I couldn't think of a better way to spend your birthday....the warranty has now officially ended.

I would like to thank Golden Physiotherapy and Sports Injury Clinic, for getting a bad knot out of the back of my leg. Thanks Steve.

Vernon to Revelstoke

We had a great day today, Glen started of at 0900 he stopped after 74km of riding, just before we got on to Highway 1. He was riding at approximately 28- 30 km/hr. He had a real sore right muscle on his thigh that we stopped to try to fix with some wonderful stuff that Tom Lopac provided Glen with,(his Chiropractor in Burlington). After a few Alieve and a rub, he was back on the road.He was like a machine on the road. It started to rain and Glen had to deal with that for the first time since we started. Driving was relatively easy today on the highway the bike lane was big enough for the RV. We are in Revelstoke at the Sandman Inn compliments of the Okanagan AC pilots.

Day 5 Penticton to Vernon

Glen had a fantastic day, he looked strong and was amazing going up the hills. We started earlier with John Attew joining us in Penticton. John was great and did a great job keeping up with Glen. Rob Williams met us with the guys just before Peachland and had Glen and John working hard up some of the hills. We then had Greg Newmarch and Brad Freathy joined Glen in Kelowna, Glen had 2 flat tires about 5 Km apart from each other. All in all the guys kept Glen motivated and were excellent company.

Glen had an early start today, it was a good start but a really hard and tough day. The sun was shining and the mountains were not easy. Persistence, determination and thoughts of Scott fighting and others kept him going. We had the rear brake that was dragging him down which made things harder, but after that was dealt with, he moved forward again.
The country is amazing, the people in Princeton amazing. He will keep on biking tomorrow.
