Tuesday, February 24, 2009Donation web site explained..
I hope to clarify just a little confusion regarding the Sponsor Glen/Donate to the Event links on the web site:
First off, ALL monies donated on our (PMH) web donation page goes to cancer research. PMH has many different fund raising events, with literally hundreds of participants. We are only one of the those events, however, we have only one participant.....me, so when PMH up a donation page they allow you a choice, you can either make a donation through a participant or you can make a donation to the event, but all money goes to that event. Some fund raising events like the bike ride around lake Ontario have hundreds of participants. So if, as an example, your great aunt Martha is taking part in that particular event, you can sponsor her, but all monies collected go to that fund raiser, along with the other monies collected for each and every other participant, or you can just make a donation to the ride around lake Ontario directly. So to reiterate, all money donated on the coast2coast2cure/PMH web site is donated to cancer research, whether it's done through Glen the participant, or to the event. I hope that clears things up. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Glen Saturday, February 21, 2009"From the Flight Deck"

And check out the fun magic trick in the background!
How did they do that ? Click the link below to find out ! Behind the Scenes Glen's story ...On October 22nd 2008, Air Canada Flight 869, a London to Toronto Boeing 777 touched down at 11:21am. Piloting that flight was Scott Lyon. The aircraft was taxied to the gate and the parking brake set. That ended another uneventful flight, and that was the last time anything in Scott Lyon's life was uneventful. Feeling more than just the ordinary jet lag, Scott made his way to his local hospital. The Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie Ontario, it would be Scott's new home for the next 2 weeks, before being transfered to Princess Margaret Hospital in downtown Toronto. The Diagnosis was soon made, and it hit like a ton of bricks, Cancer, a very rare type of Lymphoma. Scott has been my close friend and colleague for many years. I felt powerless to help him and his family. He has young kids just as I have. I thought a lot about how I could support Scott and it came to me that I could honor Scott’s courageous journey by making one of my own. I can’t travel Scott’s path with him, but perhaps I can make a difference that could prevent others from having to go through what he is so bravely facing. I intend to raise funds for cancer research by cycling from Victoria B.C. to St. John's Nfld. in sixty days or less. Our employer, Air Canada, has demonstrated its support and compassion by providing me with time off to complete the ride. Thank you for your support.
